Throughout September, some of our favorite LOCAL cookbook authors will be stopping by our stores to chat about food and sign copies of their latest books!

Paula Marcoux / Cooking with Fire

Cooking with live fire goes way beyond the barbecue grill, says Marcoux, who is food editor of Edible South Shore. Cooking classes are held in our Milton location, at Marketplace Cafe our restaurant on the second floor of the marketplace. Kale Cooking Demo with Cathy Walthers

Wednesday, September 24 – 5:30p.m. - 7:00p.m.

Fee: $25, includes a signed copy of Kale, Glorious Kale

We're pleased to welcome back private chef and cookbook author Cathy Walthers of Martha's Vineyard, whose fourth cookbook, Kale Glorious Kale, will be released in September.

Cathy will be visiting our Milton store for a cooking dempnstration and cookbook signing. Cathy will conduct a class on kale - the vegetable worlds' current darling - and its myriad uses in soups, entrees, side dishes and salads bursting with nutrition.

This will be a one-hour demonstration class with small plate samplings and an opportunity to purchase a signed cookbook. All classes are held at Marketplace Cafe, our restaurant on the second floor of our Milton location.

Your $25 fee includes a a signed copy of Kale, Glorious Kale, a generous sample of Cathy's featured dish and an opportunity to speak with Cathy Walthers.

Pasta Making 101 with Nuno Alves of Tavolo

Monday, September 29 – 6:30p.m. - 8:00p.m.

Fee: $35, includes a $10 Fruit Center gift card

(A hands-on cooking event - encore presentation!) We had so much interest in this event back in January, we're offering it again! Join us for a pasta making primer with one of our favorite local chefs, Nuno Alves of Tavolo. Sharing secrets he's learned from nine years in the kitchen with Jody Adams at Rialto and three years at Tavolo, Chef Alves will bring his enthusiasm and knowledge of all things pasta! Space is limited for this event.

Your $35 fee includes a $10 Fruit Center gift card, expert instruction from Chef Alves, a generous sample of the dish Chef Alves will prepare and recipes.

Wine and beer education classes are held in our Milton location, at Marketplace Cafe our restaurant on the second floor of the marketplace. The registration fee includes a $10.00 Fruit Center gift card, tasting notes and samples of each featured wine or beer. You can register by clicking on the link below the class description. From time to time, we have the opportunity to partner with some of our wine maker friends to create a full wine dinner event. Our wine buyer and accomplished chef, Tim Paulus, creates a menu to perfectly pair with each wine maker's wines. Over the past few years we've had the pleasure of hosting Clay Fritz from Fritz Winery, Sean Minor from Sean Minor Wines, David Whiting from Red Newt Cellars and Peter Stolpman from Stolpman Vineyards.
