Prepping Fish Like a Pro with Peter Howard - Partner, Sky 8 Shrimp Farm
Thursday, April 4 – 6:30p.m. - 7:30p.m.

With more than 30 years' experience in all things oceanic, Peter is the man you'll want to learn from. He shares his tips on buying, storing, freezing, cooking and filleting fin fish, and he'll explain why shrimp farming is the wave of the future.

Local Cooking with Chris Douglass - Chef/Owner of Ashmont Grill
Monday, April 22 – 6:30p.m. - 7:30p.m.

Chris turned his attention to the culinary needs of his adopted hometown of Dorchester in 2006, after closing his seminal South End fine dining spot, Icarus. Since then, Chris has become the Chef/Owner of Ashmont Grill. The Grill has become a quasi-community center for Peabody Square in Dorchester, with well-priced local food, a stunning backyard patio, organic wines and craft beers and staff who feel like family. Since Chris buys only what's freshest, we don't know yet what he's cooking up, but it's sure to be imaginative, delicious and just hours from the farm.
Fruits of the Vine with Cynthia Gallo-Casey - Owner of The Roman Table
Thursday, April 25 – 6:30p.m. - 7:30p.m.

Cynthia Gallo-Casey is the proprietress of The Roman Table in Scituate. Cynthia will dish about the best olive oils and vinegars currently available on the South Shore, and how to utilize each of them to best advantage when cooking. Cynthia's love for, and extensive travel in, Italy is reflected in her gorgeous kitchenware shop, which specializes in Italian linens, ceramics, cookware, gourmet foods and home décor.

A Signature Dish with Suzanne Lombardi - Owner of The Plate
Thursday, May 9 - 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Fee: $20 (includes a $10 Fruit Center gift card)
Miltonian Suzanne Lombardi founded the legendary Dancing Deer Baking Co. in 1994, then Tiny Trapeze Confections in 2000. Now, as chef-owner of The Plate, she's figuratively cooking in her own backyard, and will demonstrate a signature spring dish: Pickled Spring Onion Potato Salad with Asparagus, Snap Peas and a Salsa Verde Mustard Vinaigrette.

Mashed Potaotes Five Ways with Alexander DuBois, Executive Chef - 88 Wharf
Monday, May 13 - 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Fee: $20 (includes a $10 Fruit Center gift card)
88 Wharf, perched on the Neponset River in Lower Mills, Specializes in New American cuisine. Executive Chef Alexander DuBois will share some signature recipes that elevate the humble potato to gourmet status - and can be replicated at home. Chef Alexander will demonstrate a basic recipe plus five variations: Lavender-Pink Peppercorn, Peanut Butter, Sweet Fennel, Neufchatel Maitre d', and Rosemary Ranch.

A Signature Dish with Tony DeRienzo, Executive Chef - Abby Park

Tony brings energy and enthusiasm to his job as executive chef at Milton's beloved Abby Park, as well as his love for all things from the sea. He kicks off our new series with a demonstration of how to make millet-crusted scallops in a carrot and ginger vinaigrette. Don't miss this delicious class.

COOKING CLASSES
Cooking classes are held in our Milton location, at Marketplace Cafe our restaurant on the second floor of the marketplace. The registration fee includes a $10.00 Fruit Center gift card, copies of the recipes prepared during that class, small portions of all dishes prepared that evening and a glass of wine. To register, please call 617-696-5274, Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 4:00pm and ask for Mike Dwyer or purchase tickets online using the link below each class.
Nutrition For Life (A Cooking and Nutrition Event)
Thursday, March 7 – 6:30p.m. - 7:30p.m.
Fee: $35 (includes a $10 Fruit Center gift card)
Eating well not only keeps you healthy, but it can also increase your energy levels, maintain a healthy weight and even help to slow the aging process. Join Registered Dietitian Nikki Tierney, owner of A Healthy Balance in Quincy, and Cooking Coach Connie Spiros, for a cooking demonstration and nutrition workshop that will help you make healthy eating habits a permanent way of living. Nikki will share the basics of meal planning and optimizing the food choices that fit into your busy lifestyle. Connie will offer simple yet tasty recipes that prove healthy eating can be delicious too!
For your fee you will receive generous samples of all dishes prepared that evening, recipes, a glass of wine and a $10 Fruit Center gift card.

Meet the Winemaker with Clay Fritz of Fritz Winery

DWe're excited to welcome back for his fourth time Clay Fritz of Fritz Underground Winery. Fritz has consistently been producing some of the most outstanding wines on the domestic market and the current vintages are no exception! Join us to taste through an assortment of Fritz wines paired with a four course dinner prepared by our own wine buyerand CIA-trained chef, Tim Paulus.

From time to time, we have the opportunity to partner with some of our wine maker friends to create a full wine dinner event. Our wine buyer and accomplished chef, Tim Paulus, creates a menu to perfectly pair with each wine maker's wines. Over the past few years we've had the pleasure of hosting Clay Fritz from Fritz Winery, Sean Minor from Sean Minor Wines, David Whiting from Red Newt Cellars and Peter Stolpman from Stolpman Vineyards. Store Tour: Mastering Food Labels
Thursday, April 11 – 6:30p.m. - 7:30p.m.
Fee: FREE, but you must pre-register by calling Mike Dwyer, Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm at 617-696-5274.
There’s a lot to read on a box of food: numbers and percentages, health claims, and marketing-speak. Navigate the aisles of the Fruit Center Marketplace with Registered Dietitian Kara Kelly of A Healthy Balance for a hands-on shopping experience. Learn what to look for, what the numbers on the labels mean, how to decipher the health claims on the package and determine whether you're putting the best options into your cart. This workshop will begin in our restaurant, Marketplace Cafe, then proceed into the store.
About our nutrition education partner: Nikki Tierney is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Rhode Island, where she also studied exercise science, and then moved on to receive both her RD, and training certificate. Nikki founded A Healthy Balance in 2009 with the philosophy that living a healthy lifestyle isn’t about giving up your favorite foods and restricting yourself; it’s about finding a balance of proper nutrition, fitness, and incorporating healthy habits in your everyday life.
